The beauty of doing nothing (in autumn)

These days, everything and everyone is constantly vying for your attention. However, trying to do justice to everything is doomed to fail. Because this sensory overload is too much to take for one person, one quickly gets lost. Yet, withdrawing completely is not a solution either.

Hence, to keep pace, a solid base is mandatory. This is true in the good and even more in the difficult times. Instead of constantly giving in to the temptation of this sensory overload, it may be better to take a step back at times, as taking care of yourself should always have priority.

At times, nothing more is needed than enjoying the beauty of doing nothing to clear your head, become aware of things, and recharge your batteries.

Forests in Germany

I took this photo in the autumn of 2022. You can see the beautiful colors of the forest next to my hometown Blankenburg (Germany). The city is at the foothills of the Harz mountains. North of this low mountain range, Germany starts to become as flat as the Netherlands until its northern border to Denmark. Fall is a great time to visit Germany, especially the Harz mountains, because its trees and plans shine in all the splendid colors of the season, making it easy to surrender to serenity. Besides, this area of Germany is very famous for witches and devil sagas. Until 1989, Blankenburg was part of eastern Germany (GDR), and the border passed over the mountain.

Hi there, I'm Stefanie, the photographer, and author of the blog post you're reading now.
